Plus Size. It is ok! You are inspiring.

It’s OK to be ‘plus size’ it’s just a couple of words that are actually becoming more and more meaningless, and more and more inspiring. It’s OK to be Plus Size, particularly if the alternative is wearing the wrong size.

First World women are getting bigger, and size 16 is round about average in Australia these days. We all know how sizes differ between different fashion retailers. In many cultures the fact that women get larger as they get older is celebrated as It shows that the family is successful and can afford to eat well.

As Coco Chanel said – ‘You can be gorgeous at 30, charming at 40 and irresistible for the rest of your life.’

One of the issues that 40+ Women who are over a size 16 should pay attention to is underwear, to avoid lumps and bumps under beautiful Plus Size Clothing. Now that Myers in Orange has closed, it is a little difficult to find bras to try on, so I looked online and found www.plussizebras.com.au. When I first looked at the name of the website I couldn’t understand what zebras had got to do with anything!!

Apparently a massive proportion of women wear the wrong sized bra, so it is important to be able to try some on until you have the correct size, and that will make a major difference to your comfort and ability to wear Plus Size Clothing with confidence.

A friend recently offered me one of her dresses as I wear bright colours and she doesn’t tend to, and I was very flattered that she thought I was a much smaller dress size than I am, which was a big boost to my confidence.

I have recently noticed that some plus size fashion websites currently think we are all built like Kim Kardashian, with large bottoms that we want to accentuate. There is also a lot of boob showing. As I spend a lot more of my time working than socialising, I guess revealing outfits are not the go for me. It may also be due to my age that I find the kind of sophisticated Plus Size Clothing that one can find at Swish Fashion more of an inspiration!

I have rarely worn dresses in the past as I have a much larger top half than bottom half, but I have found that jersey dresses with jackets really suit me and have given me a whole new wardrobe of mix and match outfits. I particularly love the Plus Size dresses and jackets at Swish Fashion.

I also love wearing bright colours, and always have. When I worked in Sydney CBD a few years ago I was considered odd for wearing bright colours and patterns, as the uniform for professional women was (and still is) plain black, navy, or grey clothes. If you are in marketing you need to wear a little black dress and be called Nicole (even if you’re not)!

It was inspirational for me to come to terms with my changing body shape and to find beautiful, fashionable Plus Size Clothing at Swish Fashion. In fact it is an addiction that is quite hard to break!! More Plus Size Clothing tips see here
