Yikes! You have a Spring Fashion event coming up, a stylish afternoon of fashion and fun – and your first question is, ‘what on earth am I going to wear?’

It’s Spring and officially party season with less than 90 days until Christmas. Are you and your wardrobe Spring/Summer ready?

In Spring our calendars become filled with fun excuses to glamorize and dress for stylish and fashionable events from day through to evening.

And in this Spring party season of activity it is easy to get overwhelmed, especially when you stand blankly in front of your overfilled wardrobe and utter, ‘what on earth am I going to wear?’

Have no fear, with a little simple planning you can remove the stress of an overfilled wardrobe and the empty temptation of impulse spending.

Anyone who knows me well, knows how much I love Spring and how much I love my wardrobe being colour coded, garment style coded and well, just coded.

As a writer, style blogger and a part time fashion sales assistant my wardrobe needs to be a place where I can dress easily and stylishly for whatever event I am attending.

Last night my partner and I travelled to the Victorian State Library to hear an award-winning author speak and afterwards a meal at our favourite inner city restaurant. The dress and shoes I chose were professional enough for the writerly presentation and fun and sassy enough for our date night.

Our wardrobes need to make our lives easy.

Setting intentions helps balance and create ease in my work/lifestyle/wardrobe daily needs:

  • They help prioritize your energy and time into what matters most.
  • Once you’ve set an intention, you remove stress by feeling a little more in the driving seat of your life and choices and not driven by anyone else’s last-minute plans.

A new intention for your 2017 style could be as simple as asking 'What look or next big colour trend would I like to embrace this season?'

5 easy tips for making your Spring-Summer event outfits, stress free and stylish.

  1. Calendar your invitation immediately to avoid things like double booking!

Now is a great time to jot down a few notes about what you’d like to wear.

I have a Moroccan themed dinner party last minute invitation tomorrow night –My note to myself says ‘BLUE’.

This Calypso Twist top and cobalt jersey pants and cami would be Moroccan party perfect!

‘By adding some gold hoop earrings and a few slim gold bracelets and a metallic sandal I will be Moroccan theme party ready. I am cooking my first roast duck rubbed in Persian spices – wish me luck!’

Equally perfect would be this Swish Spring Royal Empire Jacket

  1. Time is your friend!

No last-minute dashes to find your hearts one desired outfit – this approach almost always ends in tears. Instead save time and mascara, be prepared and shop ahead of time!

  1. Melbournites always, always do Tip No 3! Tip 3 - Check the weather forecast - and travel prepared. Squirrel away a gorgeous shawl or Wrap if you know the weather may turn.Better to be prepared than having to don your partner's jacket or shivering through the entire event and feeling miserable.

Be Prepared with your footwear! If the wedding is on a farm property consider two pairs of shoes if possible. One pair for the soft lawn or paddock setting and a pair for the evening hard floor surface of a marquee or hall later. Pointy heels will sink in soft sand or soft lawn.

  1. Dress Codes are important to those who have offered them. Check with friends or your host before-hand if you are unsure.

Pants are perfect for a relaxed or fancy dress code. It is by adding personal statement features that you will dress up your outfit by adding a glamorous heel – or dressing down with a boot shoe or beaded flat sandal.

One of our Swish customers had a Miss Fisher’s Murder Mystery party to attend we found this De Fleur gorgeous jacket and teamed it with a matching simple black jersey cami and loose flowing pant. To finish her look, she borrowed a long 1920’s flapper style necklace from her mother.

  1. Buy a new outfit with many lives. A simple rule of any stylish wardrobe is to make sure each new piece can be worn many ways with your existing wardrobe.

Team a long flowing floral jacket over pants or the same dress in contrasting colours to get three stylishly different looks for your money. Perfect for cool or warm weather.

The beautiful Goddess Jacket is a perfect transition piece that will blend easily between seasons. Worn simply over a loose legged silhouette as shown here or even over a fitted long line jersey singlet dress in pink or black would look equally stunning and each look will look completely fresh, stylish and different.
