Today is International Women’s Day, Around the globe, women are standing together to celebrate a day for us to appreciate just how wonderful we are, not only to our families and friends, but to ourselves first.
We, as women stand at the helm of navigating our family’s needs, their schedules, their careers, their relationships, their lunch boxes, their everything.
Sometimes in our role of being-able-to-do-everything-women, we forget to create that same space and energy for ourselves.
Here are five simple ways we can honour, nurture and love the magnificent, powerful, kind, creative, empowered, passionate women we are all born to be.
1. Give yourself the gift of Time
The early bird catches the juiciest worm.
Get up a little early.
In writing this, I feel most of you reading this are saying, I have been getting up earlier, for ages already!
As a menopausal woman, my sleeping patterns, have no pattern at all, but I have found that by getting up a little earlier – I have time to start my day with yoga outside in my backyard, surrounded by my forest of mint and a couple of our cats – we all bask together in the morning sun - and then I love to mediate with the morning sun on my back.
This is my favourite way to honour my space in my life and to give myself just what I need first and foremost as I wake and embrace a new day of endless possibilities.
2.
Do one thing at a time
Your life may be extremely busy and you may find you are multi-tasking all over the place – just writing this sentence makes me feel exhausted.
Life can be complicated and busy and there’s no point, whatsoever in worrying or overthinking, for one simple step will help make our lives easier.
Do one thing at a time, and give your full attention to each of them. Tick them off when they are complete - first thing in the morning I make my bed immediately, mentally I feel I have already begun my day achieving one of my tasks.
3.
Be a first-rate version of yourself.
‘Great style just doesn’t happen, you need to spend some time to organize and create your best self.’
The one thing I found that really helped me make life simpler was by preparing and planning my outfits on a Sunday. 24006 Opal Contrast Jacket.
The perfect travel companion, this stunning long line jacket will be a knock out at a girl's luncheaon and sashay elegantly on board a holiday cruise. If you are planning a holiday to escape our upcoming winter -the 24006 Opal contrast Jacket would be my first pick.
Or equally fun and the perfect transition piece - this is the piece that will stop all those headless chicken dances, you jig about with in the morning, searching for that elusive outfit piece, for something to wear! Opal longline Drape Jacket, 24007.
Have fun, be the model in your own fashion catalogue. Afterall noone else but you knows what you want to look .
4.
Surround yourself with people who celebrate your worth.
‘Keep counsel with people who celebrate your great times – it’s a funny fact but there are plenty of naysayers who will be there for you when times are bad – after all misery loves company, but it is telling to see how many of them remain to shout out your achievements and great days too’.
5.
Don’t settle for anything that doesn’t make you feel alive.
Trust the fire in your guts and say no to anything that doesn’t feel right or anything that you just don’t want to go to. Our tummies are powerful wellsprings of intuition. Trust your instincts, stand up and say no if you want to. Be the strong willed girl you began this life as.
