Different cultures and different times have different ideas about beauty and sexiness. In the 1960s Marilyn Monroe was considered very sexy. I understand that she was a size 16 and so some people would now suggest she was overweight. In the 1950s and 1960s the Hilda cartoons were considered a little naughty but very sexy. So, let’s reclaim our curviness and stop hiding it!!!
In the past I have hidden my body shape in clothes that are much too big for me, and have recently started to wear dresses more often, and certainly tunics over skinny pants are very flattering.
For 40+ women over a size 16, I like the autumn colours tunic but not with the suede vest as it looks too fussy on me. I love the zebra batwing top which is flattering for curvy women too, and even though I have very large shoulders I am reliably informed that it works well for me!
I went to the Orange Swish Fashion store on Saturday, which is often quite a social event. I tried on a number of the lovely new season tunics, lovely curvy clothing. I like the one I call Desert Storm, and when I posted some photos on Facebook a friend liked the one I call Pink Blush as she thought I looked like I was captaining the Star Ship Enterprise.
There are certain things that do not look good on a curvy body shape if you have a large bust. For example, I tried on these lovely jumpers. I love the colours and the wool, but they do not suit me at all, even when they are the correct size.
This dress looks good on a curvy shape as it doesn’t overemphasise a large bust. I have also been experimenting with different ways of wearing dresses in the winter, so tried this one over the blue jersey dress, and will wear it with leggings.
Swish fashion offers many different options for a curvy body shape, and it is very hard work leaving them in the shop.Topics: Australia Plus Size Woman, CurvyBodyShape
